Planned Giving Methods
The following provides a description of some of the planned giving opportunities available to our benefactors.
- Gift Annuity—By providing a gift to Brenau, you or up to two other annuitants receive a fixed sum each year for life.
- Deferred Gift Annuity—By providing a gift to Brenau, you or up to two other annuitants receive a fixed sum each year for life starting at the first payout.
- Charitable Remainder Annuity Trust—The trust will pay a fixed dollar amount each year to you or the others you name for life or a term of years. The remaining assets then are given to Brenau.
- Charitable Remainder Unitrust—The unitrust will pay a fixed percentage of its value, determined each year, to you or the others you name for life or a term of years. The remaining assets then are given to Brenau.
- Charitable Lead Unitrust—The unitrust pays a fixed percentage of its value, determined each year, to Brenau for a term of years or one or more lifetimes. The accumulated assets then return to you or the others you name.
- Charitable Lead Annuity Trust—The trust pays a fixed dollar amount each year to Brenau for a term of years or one or more lifetimes. The accumulated assets then go back to you or the others you name.
A gift of real estate to Brenau also is possible. The four main methods most commonly used follow.
- Give the Entire Property
- Give a Portion of the Property
- Give the Property and Obtain Income through a Charitable Trust
- Give your House and Continue to Live There through a Life Estate Gift
Brenau University participates in the Leave A Legacy Georgia campaign, which provides informational calculators on its site to provide you with an example of the benefits you would receive when providing a planned gift to the University.
